Code of Conduct

NVTBL Coaches Code of Conduct

 

Acknowledging that this is a youth sports game, NVTBL Coaches are expected to model the highest moral and ethical behavior. Coaches understand that the way they conduct themselves reflects on the team as well. 

  • Provide a safe playing environment for all players.
  • Model fair play and sportsmanship to all players.
  • Teach the rules of the game to all players and parents.
  • Treat players, opponents, officials and fans with respect.
  • Promote fun, player development, and fairness over winning.
  • Coach in a positive manner, recognizing that life lessons are also being taught through the game of baseball.
  • Acknowledge that NVTBL is all about player development. Strive to develop players to their fullest potential.
  • Accept and respect the umpires as authority during games.  Not questioning or commenting on any decisions or calls of the officials.
  • Refrain from using any profanity, violence and/or insults/demeaning language during or after the game at the field.
  • Emphasize and foster a team atmosphere and not individual achievements—teams win and lose as a team.
  • Model respect so that your team members show respect to teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and parents.
  • Maintain control of parents so that they are not misrepresenting the team.
  • Abstain from using any Tobacco products at practices or games.
  • Follow all the rules and policies of NVTBL.

NVTBL Player Code of Conduct

 

All NVTBL players are expected to be respectful to teammates, coaches, and umpires; act in a responsible manner; play within the rules; and always give their best effort on and off the field.

  • Remember that Baseball is a game that is fun to play.
  • Listen to and respect the Coaches that manage my team.
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship and encourage teammates, parents, coaches and officials to also be good sports.
  • Conduct myself with dignity and honor
  • Play as a team player—remembering to encourage and celebrate teammates and opponents efforts.
  • Show sportsmanship win or lose and respect your opponent.
  • Accept and respect all decisions of the officials, not questioning or commenting on their calls.
  • Refrain from using any profanity, violence and/or insults/demeaning language on the field or in the dugout.
  • Understanding that being part of the team is a privilege, not a right.
  • Abstain from using ANY Tobacco products during practices and games.
  • Follow all NVTBL player rules and policies.

NVTBL Parent Code of Conduct

 

All NVTBL parents are expected to demonstrate positive behavior and good sportsmanship, acknowledging that they are role models for the players.

  • Remember that youth Baseball is a game that is fun to play. The game is for the youth, not the adults. 
  • Demonstrate and model good sportsmanship.
  • Acknowledge that doing one’s best is more important than winning.
  • Encourage my child to show respect to coaches, officials and teammates.
  • Respect the coaches/managers and refrain from confronting them during or immediately following a game.
  • Accept and respect the umpires as authority during games.  Not questioning or commenting on any decisions or calls of the officials.
  • Refrain from using any profanity, violence and/or insults/demeaning language during or after the game at the field.
  • Pledge to not coach my own child or any other players from the team during the game.
  • Strive to teach my own child the rules of the game.
  • Acknowledge that NVTBL is a league committed to player development.
  • Read and adhere to the player/parent rules and policies of NVTBL.

From the NVTBL Mission Statement:  NVTBL is committed to providing a competitive travel baseball program focused on the growth of youth baseball players. Teams have flexibility in creating their schedules to enable them to attend tournaments and to travel as they choose while still playing NVTBL games. NVTBL has no official league standings, thus allowing teams to focus on the development of their players.
