The Diamond Elite and DC Cadets provided plenty of offense in their Premier Showcase League (PSL) semifinal matchups, outscoring their opponents a combined 21-0 to set the stage for what should be another high scoring affair in the championship game tonight.

In the first semifinal game, the Elite cruised to a 12-0 victory over the Metro Senators with an outburst of 19 hits, including eight for extra-bases. Ryan Brokaw took advantage of the short porch in right field and drove in four runs on three doubles while Joe Vogatsky and Matt Weber went a combined 6-for-7 with three extra-base hits and five RBI for the Elite.

Elite starter Thomas Haller didn’t face more than four batters in an inning over a dominant 5.2 innings of work. The left-hander allowed just three singles while striking out seven. Right-hander Enrique Grijalva took over with two outs in the sixth and retired all four batters he faced. The tandem held the Senators out of scoring position the entire game.

Later in the night, the Cadets took down the NOVA Premier, 9-0, in the second semifinal game. The Cadets’ offense recorded double digit hits while a six-run fourth inning put the game out of reach. David Michael Jefferson and Thomas Kresina combined for five RBI with the big blows coming in the fourth. Kresina sparked the rally with a two-run triple which was later followed by a two-run double from Jefferson.

Xan Wojie started on the mound and pitched three scoreless innings and also went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Cadets. Justin Riemer came on in relief in the fourth with the bases loaded and no outs and retired the next three batters on two pitches. Riemer proceeded to strike out five and allowed just one hit over the final three innings.

The Elite and Cadets will meet tonight in the PSL championship game at South Lakes High School with the first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
